Mock Drafts

Anybody looking to waste about an hour and a half should go watch Norbit, or rent Employee of the Month. Those of us looking to wisely spend 90 minutes preparing for our fantasy baseball drafts next month should head on over to www.mockdraftcentral.com

I took part in a full scale 24 round, 10 team mock draft today, and I must say that other than having a borderline full on panic attack that it was a pleasurable experience. Usually my first live draft of the season goes horribly wrong, leaving me with Adrian Beltre at third, Brad Wilkerson in my outfield and Randy Winn at catcher. You see that's not good, because he doesn't qualify there. However, my next drafts usually are much more smooth, with less swearing, sweating, breath holding and underwear soiling. Not none, but less.

I have included the draft results here. I had the tenth pick. I would have gone with Travis Hafner and Ortiz 10-11, but Ortiz doesn't qualify at 1st in any of my leagues, so I thought it would be cheating to draft them both in the demo.

Outfielders went awfully fast, resulting in my risky early round selection of Gary Sheffield, who I despise personally. I also panicked and drafted Jim Thome in the 6th round, even though I had made the same decision not to draft Hafner earlier. And to say I'm weak on starting pitching is like saying George Lopez isn't funny. (e.g. understatement) Thankfully, as one of my fellow draft participants was kind enough to remind me, there is no league. It was just a mock. And hey, that's what practice is for. Right?
